Allow me to channel my inner Juvie for a brief moment:
Oh so you mad, ha? Tired of seeing the same 10 brands on every blog, ha? You doing some next level shit, ha? You the next coming up so why you ain’t getting no hits, ha?
I’m by far, NOT the most popular streetwear blog in the world, but I’m followed enough that I get my fair share of emails from brands asking me to put up a post about their gear. And the truth is, a good many of them suck. Maybe not the gear so much as their overall presentation. In fact, a couple of people have questioned me in that regard: “Why didn’t my stuff make your site?” or my personal favorite “Why do you keep posting (insert brand)’s products all the time?”
Normally I’d give a very politically correct answer and try to let them down easy but I got into an email discussion today–bruh–let’s just say I was “inspired” by that bit of correspondence to write this post–a post that probably should have been written a while ago but, like I said, I like to take the high road.
And even though I plan on outlining just a few reasons why your shitty tee shirts will never get play on my site you keep seeing the same brands on many of the blogs you follow, an occurance I like to call the REPEAT EFFECT, I’m still going to keep it classy.
‘Cause that’s how I roll!

These are my favorite posts of yours. Always so insightful.
In running a brand, I always feel like I can’t get enough advice and enough tips.
Even as a dude who follows a few brands on twitter and facebook, I get so inundated with small companies who really aren’t any better or different than the other small brand who’s trying to get me to add or follow them and I think it’s important to understand a lot of the fundamentals, which posts like these bring to the table. It’s not impossible to be successful even if you gear sucks, it’s a lot closer to impossible if YOU suck though.
Big ups on the post homie. Diggin it.

There are too many brands and not enough fans which effects this situation for two reasons.
1. Everyone is too busy pimping their own shit instead of buying and being a fan of smaller brands making is extremely hard for young brands to grow and gain notoriety.
2. Even if you yourself run a brand, chances are those same 8 brands are the ones that inspired you to start it. They are the originals.

Good points. But, everyday someone somewhere starts a new company. Whether that firm decides to make new apps for your phone or make stickers--it’s the American way for people to chase their dreams. Same with streetwear, many of the BIG brands started out small just like you. The burdon of becoming successful rest squarely on your shoulders. It’s YOUR job to stand out from the crowd.
