Saw this on right before hitting the sack and I felt compelled to put this up. As one that is both African-American and a Southerner I know full the goodness that is Soul Food. It’s a revered thing, almost Holy in a sense. And while I do indulge in the gospel of fried chicken, fried fish, red rice (it’s a Charleston, South Carolina thing), and sweet potato pie every once in a while, much like a person held by the cold grip of cigarettes, I’m not naive to the fact that it’s slowly killing me.

The trailer for “Soul Food Junkies“, a documentary about the culture surrounding and the people affected by the consumption of Soul Food, displays some glorious food items and spits some chilling facts about the food I love so dearly. I can’t WAIT to see this when it comes out. I’m sure I’ll end up feeling disgusted at myself by the end but if I can take away some positives that could help improve my life, it’s worth the watch.

No information on when this drops exactly but you can join the “Soul Food Junkies” Facebook fan page or visit the website for Byron Hurt, the film’s director, for updated information.
