This past weekend the Indie Grits Film Festival, a film festival dedicated to giving first time filmmakers an opportunity to show their work, when down. While I didn’t get a chance to watch any of the films during the five day gathering, me and my motley crew of creatives swung by the Crafty Feast portion of the event.
Touted as the “indie crafts fair” portion of the Indie Grits Film Festival, the Craft Feast had over 70 participating vendors–each with unique products to sell. Think of it as a handmade items version of The Big Mix.
Wanna see some of my pictures?
Randi and Tolbert (Covet PR) in the background, Tedra (Covet PR) with her back to me. Oh that dude with the shiny forehead? That’s Righchus.
Say “Hello!” to Trell, South Carolina’s next Miss Everything.
You should probably follow Trell, Smitty (Suite Life Agency), and Righchus on Twitter. They would like that.
Some of the best bow ties you can find in the South are hand made in South Carolina by the good people at The Cordial Churchman. Ties on ties on ties!
I don’t remember this young lady’s name but I loved her plush, crotchet characters. If anyone knows her name, let me know in the comments and I’ll add it to the post.
But the main reason I was here (and dragged everyone else with me) was to finally meet my internet friend Nikki in person. As the proprietor of Not Made In China, she’s the young lady responsible for the glorious execution of my H1GHER LEARNING pin set. SPOILER ALERT: she was just as sweet in person as she was on the phone and via email. See, I told you that blogging can help you make friends! Don’t we look chummy?
And business was (seemingly) booming for the Charlotte resident. But in my non-scientific opinion she would have made quadrupled the money she made if only she would accept the loving embrace of technology and get that Square app! I estimate that she would have made enough money to quit her full time job, buy a new car, and take me to lunch if she could have just accepted credit card payments at Crafty Feast!
But all joking aside, it was great to met young Nikki in person and I was just as excited to see people excited about her work as I was. If you want her to make you some custom buttons or bottle openers, reach out–she got that work! I for one can’t wait to work with her again.

KJ, you’re my new best good friend. Thanks for posting -- love the shots you took of the festival too! You got some serious photojournalism skillz. It was great meeting you in person. You’re just as jovial, upbeat and handsome as I had imagined
Holler at me when you need some more buttons.
And don’t get pregnant.
