Your eyes do not deceive you.

This is a seat cushion made out of basketball material. However this picture only represents a portion of the entire work. Designed by Dustin Canalin of the basketball themed brand UNDRCRWN, these super limited pieces drew inspiration from the famous Barcelona Chair designed by Mies van der Rohe. Released in 2008 these chairs symbolize the epitome of what a “basketball lifestyle brand” represents.

I took this detailed shot (with my Blackberry no less) while visiting the city of Nashville. The big homie T, proprietor of streetwear boutique Phat Kaps, finds himself in rare company as one of a select few owners of one of these marvelous masterpieces. I didn’t sit on this chair (for fear of damaging it) but believe me, everything from the feel of the material to the smell of the leather let me know that this indeed was crafted from the very material that inspired its creation.

I’d seen it on the internet–no doubt–but like a Black College band, it’s true greatness can only be experienced in person. I’ve been meaning to post this picture for quite sometime now and with basketball season fully underway, the time just felt right. Continue reading to see a full body shot.
