This past weekend I had the opportunity to visit Atlanta. In addition to riding the MARTA and watching my beloved South Carolina State University Bulldogs get worked over by Georgia Tech, I was allowed the opportunity to spend about a half an hour with the man behind of one of the oldest (if not THE oldest) streetwear boutiques in the A, Farshad.

Now normally these post are meant to highlight a particular item on someone that I believe is showing impeccable style at a particular moment in time but today I just wanted to post some candids of the guy behind a store I’ve admired from afar for many years. This meeting was made possible by someone that’s rapidly moving from the “business contact” to “friend” category and one of the principles behind the WeAreTheProcess brand, Mr. Larry Luk. The game I soaked up from listening to these two gentlemen speak was invaluable to my growth as both a brand and business man. However, the overall feeling I got from my time with these guys was that BUILDING, not B.S., was the key to success. In addition, often times people fail in business and in life by not being true to who they are–the “fake-it-till-you-make-it” concept was described as a prevalent syndrome in Hotlanta.

I had every intention of just bombarding Farshad with as many questions as I could fit in 30 minutes. After that HIKE from the train to Art Center I kinda felt like I deserved the opportunity but the game these dudes were kicking ended up being good enough for me. I can tell you this though: Farshad and Larry are into most sports in general but EXTRA into fantasy football (Farshad is in 4 leagues and Larry is in 5 if I remember correctly)! In fact, Larry is actually in a league that uses PUNTERS in the roster selections (did not see that coming). For those not into the whole fantasy football thing just trust me when I say that’s some hardcore stuff, bruh bruh.

Anyway, it should go without saying–but Imma say it regardless–if you’re in the city of Atlanta make sure you hit up at least one of Standard‘s locations (Peachtree Street or Lenox Mall). And stay tuned to H1GHER LEARNING for more insights into the mind of Farshad.

Possibly Larry too…I want to know how this punter thing works out.
