I think I’ve mentioned that in another life I’d probably be a packaging designer. As such I subscribe to the RSS feeds of a couple packaging design websites to fill that void in my nerdy life. So imagine my surprise when I saw lil’ ol’ Charleston being represented on The Dieline a couple weeks ago. I wanted to post this immediately but seeing that I’m in Charleston and founder of this company is in Charleston I wanted to get in touch with him before I wrote anything. Let me just say that Johnny Battle is probably the most intense chocolate enthusiast I’ve ever had the pleasure of speaking with…ever.
Which on the surface seems great but truth be told, he’s the only Chocolatier I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with so take my statement with a grain of salt. However, I HAVE spoken to many creative people and this guy is as passionate, if not the most passionate, about what he’s doing that anyone else doing anything else on the planet. Sweeteeth specializes in creating artisan chocolates using traditional handcrafted techniques as Johnny personally crafts every chocolate bar he sells. And the flavors are out of this world! “Sea is for Caramel” is his salted caramel flavor and “PB & C” is a peanut butter and chipolte flavor that taste as weird as it sounds, trust me. If those don’t sound like your cup of tea then try his other flavors, whydontcha!
I proposed a new flavor to him and he promptly dispelled the chances of that happening (not because it would taste bad but for scientific reasons and personal experiences) so I’m still grinding my mental gears to make something work. Hopefully sooner than later I’ll have a H1GHER LEARNING x Sweeteeth collab for yall. Until then visit the Sweeteeth website and if you decide to drop Johnny a line, tell him KJ sent ya!
Making tee shirts is cool and all but who’s making their own chocolate bar?
NOTE: his website and packaging was designed by another Charleston company that has ALSO been featured on some prominent packaging design sites called Fuzzco.
