Oh, leather fitted cap. You sure do look good. And when made with premium materials you smell great and can obtain a lovely patina over time but alas, you’re just not practical enough for me or many other Southern streetwear fans to collect. It just doesn’t get cold enough for long enough for us to invest in you (although I did find this sweet Raiders leather fitted on ebay for like $15) and so it sucks when we actually do peep a leather fitted that we might want to rock. I will eventually pull the trigger one day if the right cap comes across my path, it probably won’t be something that’s all leathered out…maybe something with a leather brim, the point is I will own you in some way, shape, or form if only to appease my sartorial senses.

But I did say that you were an abomination to the Southern streetwear fan and I stand by those words–you’re just not very practical. In addition to NOT being practical you represent a product that is seemingly made only for our Northern brethren, the same group of people trying to push sweatshirts as a useful item by April, and that really grinds my gears. What Southerner is in the market for a $60 crewneck in April? None, that’s who. It’s an internal love/hate relationship that I battle with everytime I see you. On one hand I really want one but on the other I view you as a sartorial manifestation of my “Sold to, not serviced” soapbox and as such I have a dark place my heart for you. It’s like pretending to hate a girl that you really like only because you know she’s not right for you or out of your league and you don’t want people to know how you truly feel about her.

So wait…does that make you Beyonce?
