Above is a picture of some P-Rod IIs that I never rarely rock because I have a wide foot and I’m 100% Paul has the foot of a 16 year old girl because these joints are EXTRA narrow on me. I broke them out for the first time in forever a couple weeks ago and thankfully Peezo was on hand to take a picture of them. This rare sight prompted me to ask a question for you that call yourselves “shoe fanatics” or “sneakerheads”: Do you Brett Favre or Barry Sanders your sneakers? For those not familiar with the references kill yourself let me help you get familiar.
Barry David Sanders
The greatest running back of All-Time and even if you want to debate that subject there is no debating that he was the most elusive player to ever grace an American football field. Aside from seemingly being able to vanish from the grips of a defender, Barry is known for doing something everyone in the NFL watching world thought was just plumb crazy: retiring early (albeit healthy) with the NFL’s career rushing record within his sight (Barry retired with 15,269 rushing yards while the record at the time, held by Walter Payton, was 16,726 yards).
Brett Lorenzo Favre
Besides being from the South (Mississippi stand up), winning multiple NFL MVP awards, and holding numerous records due to this unbelievable longevity Brett Favre’s name has now become synonymous with “waffling”; the art of not being able to make up ones friggin’ mind. After years of holding the Green Bay Packers front office hostage with his “will I retire, will I not retire” sentiments and in 2008 after Brett retired and then subsequently tried to un-retire, the Packers said that they had enough of his shenanigans and decided against bringing him back.
The Verdict
When I first got into the “sneaker game” I was just copping for the sake of copping but now I’m much more conscientious about what I decide to put in my closets if for no other reason, I don’t have much room to stack them so with that being said I tend to Barry Sanders the majority of my “collection” and trust I use the word “collection” loosely.
Because of my day time efforts the only time I get to bust out the newness is on the weekends and since I’ve gotten away from just buying every damn sneaker that pops up on NiceKicks.com and reserving my purchases for products that move me, that newness becomes yesterdays news in a hurry. Not to mention my less-than-frequent purchases mean that my “collection” doesn’t grow as much as it use to leaving my sneaker boxes to look quite dated, not that I have a problem with that.
I guess when I’m blessed enough to get my Marcus Troy on (also know as getting paid to do this stuff) then my Barry Sanders collection will get much smaller as I will be able to rock my sneakers on a more frequent basis or maybe it will get bigger because I’ll be getting free stuff sent to the crib. Who knows? I’ll just revisit this topic when that actually happens.
Brett vs Barry
So what about yall? Do yall Barry Sanders your shoes (retire them early while they are still in their prime) or do you Brett Favre ‘em (tend to keep your favorite shoes in rotation for a very long time)? Do you Barry some pairs and Brett others? Why or why not?

I Brett Favre ‘em. I think I Mike Jordan them too though. Like they have the Barry Sanders tag on ‘em get misplaced in another state and all of sudden, they back on the court like MJ in a wizards uni…they’ve lost the original aire.

I mean, there are some shoes that i wear more frequently than others, but all shoes get worn until the worn(play on words, no pun intended, no big pun(but i dont wanna be a playa no more)); but i digress.

It’s the old “curse of knowledge” dilemma isn’t it? It’s easy to assume visitors know how to comment or even that commenting is encouraged. Excellent post.
