Phenomenon X Miskha coaches jacketSince the first time I laid eyes on this Russian named, New York City based company I’ve been nothing short of a fan because if there is one thing I like in a clothing brand it is consistency. And not only does Mishka constantly bring the heat but every season they drop at least one piece that makes me realize that if I’m ever going to have a chance in this thing called fashion I HAVE to find a way to devote 100% to the cause because there is no way I can think of some of the stuff they think of in the confines of the beige and glass prison I call my cubicle. I’m a part-time hero for now but I got some plans to step up in the world. Any way…

I just happen to peep Mishka’s new Holiday 2009 lookbook and although I’m not head over heels with everything I see, overall I’m happy with the range. Their Simon character makes a return as a play on the classic Fair Isle pattern. A nice touch.

However, the item which made that prevailing “I gotta win the lotto so I can do this full-time!” feeling surface was their collab with Japanese brand Phenomenon on a LEATHER COACHES JACKET. Crazy right!?! Although it looks more like a leather version of those old Starter satin jackets but it’s super dope nonetheless.

Now admittedly, my Southern constituents, we can not rock the majority of the Mishka 2009 Holiday drop, not for lack of style but really, how often does it get that cold to justify buying anything more than a flannel and MAYBE a sweater? If I buy that leather jacket I’m going to wanna rock it often but unfortunately it just doesn’t get that cold in Charleston, SC. I could probably squeeze 3 or 4 wearings out of it but that’s about it. Sheeeit, I remember my homie Rob Brown (wow, I even type out his full name) bought this dooooooope Sean Jean snorkel jacket our freshmen year of college. I think he’s worn it 10, 12 times since he bought it. And this was in 2001. So pardon me but I’ll just admire from a far.

At the time of posting, the Mishka Holiday 2009 line had yet to reach their online store but feel free to check out some of their other products especially their impressive New Era pieces. And don’t bother telling them KJ sent ya because they don’t know who I am.
